Work Group: Institutional development ? building language education networks
Members of the partner projects in Berlin, the Federal Association of Regional Employment, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Saxony formed two inter-regional work groups on ‘Integrated language education’ and ‘Institutional development – building language education networks’. The FörMig Centre of Expertise advises and supports both groups.
Cooperation and network building represent the core of integrated language education. Although they were frequently discussed at relevant workshops and conferences, a devoted work group to these matters was not part of the FÖRMIG model programme. The conditions for and barriers to cooperation and networking became clearer over the course of the programme and channelling them will prove useful to a successful integrated language education. The Work Group (WG) ‘Institutional development – building language education networks’ thus examines successful types of cooperation and network building in the area of language education and prepares findings for practice.
The WG focuses on the structural dimensions of integrated language education, i.e. the inner and inter-institutional cooperation at the various educational interfaces: elementary/primary level, primary/lower secondary level, lower secondary/upper secondary level. It ties in with FörMig best practices and assists in the development of a successful integrated language education.
The WG takes part in workshops and training for pedagogical personnel across federal states and is developing guidelines for cooperation in language education networks. It works closely with the WG ‘Integrated language education’ which handles content for lesson development.
